Welcome!

I did it. I bit the bullet, jumped both feet in, and I'm thrilled. Longarm quilting has been a long-awaiting dream and I am now the happy owner of an HQ Sixteen model. It has been well loved, the tracks are a bit bruised, and the machine has a happily-grumbly sound to it. I started with a one yard sampler and I have played with clamshell echos, bumpity-bump flowers, squiggles and feathers.

The Purchase:

It has been a grueling year of studying. I'm finishing my final year of postgraduate studies and the exam was a challenge to my stamina, marriage, and quilting addiction. Luckily my husband is easy-going and tolerated the crazies!

A Long arm was going to be my present to myself if I passed, but an amazing deal came up on Kijiji. I couldn't let it go and hopefully this doesn't jinx my exam results... to be announced Friday June 27, 2014. Fingers crossed.

The pieces:

Who knew a machine could break down into so many pieces? It took 3 people, two vehicles, and some maneuvering to bring all of this home. Unpacking the longarm involves sprawling pieces across three rooms in the house, and I'm still searching.

But... Voila!

It is all set up, the tension has been adjusted, and we are new BFFs. I'm in love and the addiction is settling in.

New to quilting, what's not to love? There is always a quilt to sew, fabric to peruse, patterns for every style, and the friendliest people you could meet. It has been a two year learning leap for me and I love the adventures it brings.
